It was refreshing to see how they did not follow the traditional bridal formula and crafted a truly spectacular San Diego wedding!
Dreamy Venue for a Dreamy Wedding
This laidback couple chose the Kona Kai Resort in San Diego to begin the next chapter of their lives. Kona Kai has a studding marina backdrop; the waterfront ceremony location breathes life and creativity into the picture. Katie and Kyle adore such natural surroundings, and this outdoor beach spot was the perfect choice.
The Kona Kai wedding venue features a spacious area with lush greenery and romantic views. Moreover, the ambiance allowed guests to relax and savor the big moments of the newlyweds with a breathtaking view of the marina in the background. This Southern California wedding venue was everything they imagined for their celebration! And with the help of their coordinator Willmus Weddings, they managed to pull off a dream day!
Intimate First Look Followed By Romantic Exchange of Vows
The couple used the first look moment as an opportunity for a private exchange of vows. They wanted this moment only for themselves, so they decided to do it intimately. The photo and video team discreetly captured these parts, giving them a deeply personal experience. They spoke to each other, pouring their hearts out without distractions or needing to entertain the guests.
It was one of the most meaningful and touching moments of Katie and Kyle’s Kona Kai wedding.
Stunningly Unique San Diego Wedding Ceremony
Another notable moment of the San Diego beach wedding was the barefoot ceremony. Katie and Kyle said, “I do”, standing barefoot on the soft sand, surrounded by their loved ones. Their officiant, who happened to be a close friend, shared heartfelt words about their journey together.
There was also a beautiful string ritual that made this union memorable. A spool of red yarn was passed to each guest, starting with Katie. The string traveled through the hands of their loved ones, symbolizing the love and connection shared by everyone present. The ritual finished once the yarn reached Kyle, and the collective energy was united. During the ritual, the officiant performed a sound bath creating a harmonious vibration we could all feel. It was a profound moment I will always remember.
An Exceptional Experience
Working with Katie and Kyle was such a pleasure. Being part of their love story as their San Diego wedding photographer was an exceptional experience and a great honor. However, what overwhelmed me with joy was capturing their maternity shoot in San Diego a year later – I was so honored to continue capturing memories for them.
