Kiersten & Luke’s Wedgewood Orchard Wedding

Kiersten and Luke are an incredibly fun couple, so being their Southern California wedding photographer was a blast. They started as work friends, and refered to their relationship as work husband and work wife. However, one night at a golf range changed everything, and the rest is history. There was so much fun and laughter during their engagement session, there was no surprise that their celebration was such a delightful to shoot. 

Color Color Color

The first word that comes to mind when I think about Kiersten and Luke’s wedding is vibrant. They were not afraid of color, so in their Wedgewood Orchard wedding photos, you will see a wide spectrum of them. Everything sparkled with color, from the bridesmaids’ dresses to the groom’s blue suit, to the florals. The setting created such a lovely and cheerful atmosphere that reflected their personalities perfectly. 

They chose Wedgewood Orchard as their venue because they cherish natural beauty. The lavish greenery of this place complemented the theme of their celebration. As their Temecula wedding photographer, I really enjoyed capturing their love story amidst such beauty. 

The day didn’t go as planned

In my experience as a Southern California wedding photographer, I have never seen a couple so relaxed during their special day – not only in front of the camera but also with their wedding schedule. The ceremony was delayed about 90 minutes because some important guests were stuck in traffic. They knew that not everything could go according to the plan, so they embraced these adjustments. More importantly, they trusted their vendors completely. The solution to a late start with guests milling around waiting? Open the bar! The post ceremony cocktail hour changed to welcome drinks and everyone happily enjoyed and mingled until the ceremony started. I loved how open-minded they were and how they just went with the flow. It’s such an important thing that doesn’t get mentioned enough during wedding planning. There are rarely any weddings that don’t have at least a few hiccups

Blue Hour Portraits

With the late ceremony start, when I went to shoot their golden hour romantic portraits, the sun was already gone. But, as an experienced San Diego wedding photographer, I have learned to use the advantage of blue hour. You’ve probably heard of golden hour- the time before sunset. Blue hour is just after sunset. The light is very different- it’s much softer and the tones are more subtle, fading from soft pink into blues. I love blue hour for its uniqueness and romantic feel.
